Frieda Joann Wright was born April 7, 1935, to Estella Iona and Willis Norman Wright in Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up in Cincinnati, Frieda graduated from Woodward High school. In 1956 she married Lamar Cox and relocated to Long Island, New York. She was a homemaker raising her two children Angela Joan and Lamar Byron. Frieda became a girl scout troop leader. She loved New York and often adventurously would take her children to cultural events, parades, museums and shows. A highlight that both her children remember today. Frieda later went back to school and in 1978 graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the College of Old Westbury. She began employment with the New York Guardian Mortgage Company as an account executive. After relocating to the DC/Maryland area, Frieda became a Care Giver for Assurance Elder Care. Upon retirement she relocated to Plano, Texas, and lived with her daughter and son in law. Frieda loved to read and write poetry. She could spend hours in a bookstore reading poetry and sipping coffee. One of her desires was to write a children’s book. Frieda also enjoyed cooking and was a very creative cook. She loved all types of music but especially gospel. God was first and far most in her life. She loved to worship the Lord. In Texas she attended Faith Community Church with her Son in law as Senior Pastor. Frieda transitioned home to be with the Lord Monday, September 18, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Estella Iona Wright and Willis Norman Wright and her brother Davis Cecil Wright.
